The Flu Shot

There have been a number of parents wondering if their child should receive the flu shot this year. Most children who are healthy can weather the flu, however the Minnesota Department of Health and the CDC recommend children ages 6 months to 5 years old receive the shot along with children ages 5-18 who have chronic medical conditions such as: asthma diabetes immune defeciencies blood disorders heart disease The symptoms of influenza come quickly in the form of fever, dry cough, sore throat, headache, extreme tiredness, nasal congestions and body aches. The influenza differs from a cold in that a cold generally stays up in the head while the flu brings body aches, fever, and extreme fatigue. We recommend you discuss concerns about your child with your Physician since they know your child's specific health needs.
