Religion
We will learn about forgiveness. We will learn that Jesus came on earth to forgive sinners. He wants to forgive us.

Reading
We will begin a new theme called “Winter.” I’ve corrected the Christmas journals. We will begin the “Winter” journals today. We will read, “ My Buddy Stan” and “Biscuit.”

Spelling
We will begin spelling this week. In first grade, the students are required to know 30 spelling words. We will practice two spelling words a week. I will not give a spelling test each week. We will practice the words through out the week. We will use them in our daily writing. I’ve attached a copy of the thirty words. This week, we will learn (the) and (of).

Math
We are beginning a new unit on understanding numbers to 100. We will begin by learning place value. We will learn about the tens and ones place. This week we will learn to write the numbers to 19. We will learn to count by tens to 100.

Science
We will begin a new unit on weather. I’m sending home the corrected unit activities and test today.

The December “Book It” is due. I’ve attached the January “Book It” to this letter.
