January Newsletter
January 2009
Dear Parent,
I hope you all had a happy, healthy holiday season! My family and I enjoyed our time together tremendously. May you all have a happy and healthy New Year!
This week we will have the Magazine Kickoff on Friday. Watch for the packets to come home. This is a huge fundraiser for our school. Thanks for all you do to get orders and subscriptions!
At the end of the month we will celebrate Catholic Schools Week. We are in the planning stages right now as a staff. Information will be sent home as it is finalized. It is always a wonderful time to celebrate who we are and why we come together each day!
Next week in grade three the students will be writing an essay about the importance of a Catholic education and what they enjoy most about Mary of Lourdes. The essays will be displayed in the hallway during this month.
The students are really working hard to learn multiplication and division facts in math. It is exciting to see them understanding these concepts. We will continue to work on memorizing the facts in school, and I hope you can find time to work on them at home, too
In addition to the math facts I hope your child is squeezing in time to read each night. The December Book It! sheets are due this week! Right now is the perfect time to help your child find out how enjoyable reading is! Take advantage of the time inside to READ!
In social we are wrapping up chapter three this week and will test next week. This month we will learn about the presidential inauguration, Martin Luther King, Jr., and promoting respect.
The end of the quarter is January 16. There is no school on January 19. On January 28 students will be dismissed at 12:53.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Witt
