CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. GAU
Mrs. Gau just arrived back from participating in the Boston Marathon on April 21st. She ran the race in 3 hours, 25 minutes (approx. 7 minutes, 50 seconds per mile)! She ended the race in the top 4% of her woman’s age group and the top 8% of all women who ran. What an accomplishment!! Congratulations to Mrs. Gau!

MOLS’ FAMILY SPRING SOCIAL & POTLUCK PICNIC
Mark your calendars for our annual Spring Social and Potluck coming up on May 19th! This event is located at Belle Prairie Park. The social begins at 5:30 p.m. and the potluck picnic begins at 6:00 p.m. Home & School is sponsoring this event. A few more people to help serve the meal are needed. Please call Rainya Strack (632-6294) or either school office if you would be willing to help. Watch for further details and please join us!

SPRING SCRIP UPDATE
It is spring cleaning and house project season and what better time to use Scrip than right now? We have Menards, Home Depot, Hardware Hank, Wal-Mart, and many, many more in our scrip inventory!
Also, remember we have Scrip gift certificates in any denomination that you may want. They make great gifts for anyone! Just order the certificate from us and we will give you a Scrip Gift Certificate and order form and the recipient can choose whatever Scrip they like.

HOME AND SCHOOL
Our Home and School Association has a position open for secretary. Being involved with Home and School is a great

way to keep informed on what is happening in your child’s life, make new friends, meet other families, and get acquainted with teachers and staff.

Where would your dream vacation be? Anyplace where it is warm, not windy, and there are lots of disc golf courses.

What do you like to listen to? Rubber Soul by the Beatles. I really like anything “punk”.

What is your favorite time of year? Summertime because it is warm and I’m free!

What is your idea of a perfect day? A warm summertime day spent with my family, which includes a disc golf tournament with my sons and son-in-law which, of course, I win.

What is the one object you cannot live without? TV

What was your favorite school lunch as a child? We didn’t have lunch at school, but I would ride my bike home and have macaroni and cheese.

Who made a big difference in your life growing up? My parents

If you could have a conversation with one person, who would it be? John F. Kennedy

Would you like to be a teacher who goes into space and lands on Mars? Not a chance!

Other interesting facts: He plays a mean harmonica! He always wear black.

OFFICE CHAIRS NEEDED
MOLMS building is in need of some gently-used office desk chairs. If any families and/or businesses have spare office chairs that they are not using and would like to donate, please call the MOLMS office (632-6742). We would appreciate any "upgrades" that you can offer the middle school staff. Thank you!

Elementary School:
LAST STUDENT DAY OF SCHOOL
The last student day is Friday, May 30. We'll be following the same schedule for the day as Little Falls Community Schools. Students will be dismissed three hours early. Our school day in the elementary building will end at 11:53 am.

ELEMENTARY SPRING CONCENT
Our Spring Concert this year will include performances by Third Grade students as well as Fourth Grade. Please note on your calendar, our program is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th, 7:00 pm in the elementary gym.

MARY OF LOURDES SCHOOL 15TH YEAR MASS CELEBRATION
This year marks our 15th year as an incorporated school system. To celebrate this year, students at Mary of Lourdes will be celebrating Mass together on Wednesday, May 7, 9:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be no Mass at the elementary building.

ELEMENTARY MASSES
We have two special Friday Masses coming up in May that are planned by Kindergarten students and their teachers. KB (Mrs. Young)-May 16 and KA (Mrs. Kula)-May 23. The Masses begin at 8:30 am. Please note that during these two weeks there will be no Wednesday Mass.

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION UPDATE
The Tuesday/Thursday afternoon class (12:15 – 2:45 pm) would need an additional 5 – 6 students to be offered. If you know of families seeking preschool for their child/ren next year, pass along that we have openings available. They may contact the elementary school office for further details.

TESTING
MCA testing is continuing for Grade 3, 5, and 7. Grades 2, 4, 6, and 8 will be taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills during the last week in April. The tests are being held over a five-day period (Apr. 24, 25, 28, 29, & 30). Please encourage your children to get extra rest and eat a good breakfast during this testing period.

ELEMENTARY TUTORING
Mrs. Marge Young will be offering summer tutoring for K, 1st and 2nd grade students again this summer. For more information, call her at 632-5408.

Middle School:
LAST MOLMS PLAYGROUND FUNDRAISER - MOL STUDENT-DESIGNED GREETING CARDS!
Exciting news...the MOLMS Playground Renovation Project is coming to a close at the end of this school year! Our last, large piece of equipment, the PLAYWEB, has been ordered and will be installed on May 27th. The MOLMS Playground Student Advisory Team has worked in conjunction with the K-8 homerooms and advisories to create a 20-pack all-occasion greeting card set designed by the students and will be sold by Gr.5-8 students and will also be available for sale at the MOLE & MOLMS offices throughout the month of May ($14.00 per pack, which comes out to $.70 per card). CONSIDER PURCHASING THIS BEAUTIFUL SET OF STUDENT-DESIGNED CARDS TO SUPPORT THE MOLMS' FINAL PLAYGROUND PROJECT! Please watch for more information on this soon!

8TH GRADE GRADUATION DATE CHANGED
MOL 8th grade graduation Mass and program has been changed from Wed., May 28th to Thur., May 29th at 6:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Church. Please mark this change on your home calendars!

ONE-ACT PLAY -
A GREAT SUCCESS
Congratulations to the one-act play cast of Jacob Borash, Brennan Norwood, Joseph Reis, Isaiah Korver, Emily Dunaisky, Sarah Nelson, and Jessica Durfee, as well as the play director, Mr. Stan Wielinski and Mrs. Holey, the assistant director, They performed the melodrama, “The Old Cookie Shop” last week to students at both MOL buildings and to the public on Saturday, April 19th. MOLMS plans to perform more one-act plays next fall!

MOLMS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN SPEECH FESTIVAL
Our speech festival coordinator, Mrs. Hynes, and her speech students from Gr. 5-8, recently participated in the annual Catholic Schools’ Speech Festival held at St. Mary’s School in Alexandria on April 19th. Other schools that participated in this festival were from Fergus Falls and Morris. Congratulations to the following MOL participants: Isaiah Korver, Amy Maslowski, Emily Dunaisky, Maria Hauer, Mallory Kenna, Merisa Whitcomb, Alex Whitcomb, Vanessa Meschke, Tristen Zimmerman, Nicole Andres, Ian Norwood, Jenna Primus, Jesse Roach, and Rachel Veillette! They all did very well!!

GRANDPARENTS’ DAY THANK YOU
Thank you to all the grandparents who came to our MOLMS Grandparents’ Day this past Wednesday and to all the staff who helped with this event! Thank you to Bonnie Neu, Joyce Block (Bonnie’s mother), and school staff and parents who helped prepare or serve the wonderful meal that day! Thanks to John Freudenrich and Ernie Seelen for doing both the set up and take down in the gym for this special event!
